Data in Diamonds?
If we only knew the truth... what what written by the winners (evil elite looters) left out the key truths... for a reason. Pangea, Atlantis, even Plato said the Egyptians didn't know how old they really were... We have never been told the truth.
Diamonds?
Similarly advanced civilization might be able to tell that it was another advanced civilization that existed on Earth 1 billion years earlier, but it would be difficult for them to know anything of substance about us unless they find our data stored in diamonds, and this data is still readable after such a long time.
One billion years is a very long time. Pangea assembled only 335 million years ago and broke apart about 200 million years ago. Similarly, in the future, two supercontinents will form and break one after another within one billion years. The drift of continents will destroy a large part of the continental crust that exists today; it will melt in the hot Earth’s mantle. Plate tectonics is destined to end in one to two billion years, and this process of recycling continental crust will end.
This doesn’t make that much difference; after such a long time, only a layer of human techno-deposits will be visible in the geological record in some places that avoid ending up in the Earth’s mantle. These will be an amalgam of asphalt, concrete, metals, bones of livestock, and ours.
An advanced civilization would figure out that another technological society left these techno deposits behind; these layers would be thick enough, indicating a civilization that lasted long enough to become worldwide and sophisticated. The ruins of cities would be gone very early on. The wind, the rain, and various types of organisms would break apart signs of our civilization on the surface of Earth.
We should have our first bases on other celestial objects in space within a century. The Moon has no atmosphere, and its erosion rate is much slower. Another technological civilization could find our ruins for much longer there than on Earth, but a billion years is too long. Everything would also be unrecognizable.
It is possible to record data in diamonds. I tried to get information on how long they should stay readable, but nothing more precise than they would last a very long time pops up. However, this is the only currently known chance for anything of substance to be left by us and possibly be readable by another advanced civilization in such a distant future.
The question was: If the human race were wiped out today, would a similarly advanced civilisation 1 billion years in the future be able to identify that it was an advanced civilisation?
Comment:
In 1972 nuclear workers at a uranium refinement plant in France were working with samples from a mine in Oklo, Gabon. They discovered that the expected concentration of U-235 was reduced in this mine by ~16%. Further analysis of the ore and tailings from the mine showed an unusual array of elements, including isotopes that could only be fission products.
The ores were concentrated in rocks approximately 1.7 billion years in age, and seem to represent a natural nuclear reactor that occurred due to an unusual set of geochemical circumstances including groundwater flow, pressure, and temperature as well as chemistry. This was possible at that time because U-235 component of natural uranium was much higher than today.
There are a lot of unusual chemicals and compounds that have accumulated and been distributed across the face of the Earth during the time of human civilization. A friend of mine (also a geologist) once referred to it as the “Greasy Radioactive Strata.” How much of these distinctive materials remain after 1 billion years of Earth history remains to be seen.
I expect that accumulations of spent nuclear fuels with quite distinctive isotopic signatures will be at least one of the big clues that we were here once.
👉THE ELITE NEVER, EVER GET MASSACRED OR WIPED OUT with their wealth. They just move. They move all down through the ages. They bring on catastrophes to an empire when they've used up that empire and they’ve already created another one to move into and then they flatten the old one and move on. This has been the system for thousands and thousands and thousands of years at least. - Alan Watt
